Born in Accra, Ghana, Erika Ofori-Amanfo is currently a high school senior at the Academy of American Studies in Queens, NYC. As a child, Erika was shy and reserved, often clinging to her mother and apprehensive of her surroundings. However, her high school experience, particularly through active participation in various volunteer initiatives, helped her come out of her shell and develop confidence. With a love not only for service but for history, Erika hopes to pursue a career in social work, where she hopes to use her understanding of history to better serve others.
