A stained glass window installed against a backed lighting depicting a biblical scene of the Creation...
Valentin Bousch, The Creation and the Expulsion from Paradise, 1533. Stained glass, 114 × 90 inches (289.6 × 228.6 cm).
About The Artist

Very little is known about Bousch’s early life apart from the fact that he was born in or near Strasbourg (1490-1541, north eastern France). He is celebrated for his work as a stained glass glazier where he portrayed intricately detailed narratives by manipulating color, cutting, and using highly skilled glass leading techniques to evoke the drama and emotion of his characteristic Renaissance style. He seems to have run a busy workshop after he settled in Saint-Nicholas-de-Port, in 1514. Six years later he moved his business to Metz where he received a sizeable commission to paint glass for the newly reconstructed cathedral of Saint-Ětienne. Bousch worked at Flavigny, he also worked on other commissions around Metz until his death in 1541. Although no portraits of the artist are known his signature survives.
